When two dedicated, intelligent, and enthusiastic KEDC Grants teacher leaders are empowered to think without limits, you get amazing results. HERO’s Sheina Kegley and EPIC’s Ashely Watts attended the US Department of Education’s Teach to Lead Summit in Buffalo, NY where they not only showcased the incredible work of our grants, but took on the challenge of “How do we make it even better?”
As a KEDC Grants team and with a national-level critical friend, Sheina and Ashley led the way through the problem of practice, which stated that we agree we have high-quality professional learning in our grants programming, but we want to make it even better. They buffaloed through the hard thinking of that and landed on a way to create a platform for reflecting, sharing with other teacher leaders, and creating a space for organic and structured collaborative conversations for grant participants.
Their work was so representative of the kind of leaders who make up not only EPIC and HERO, but all of our grants including ACHIEVE, ReCHARGE, and Renaissance. Their presentations truly showcased their commitment to driving the educational process and to all the hard work our participants put into their own professional learning.
Now is the time for us to create this collaborative space that Ashley and Sheina worked so hard to envision, and we will be rolling that out to everyone when it is perfected and in the best form for our work. With KEDC at the heart of our grants, every road leads to a path of greatness! Be on the lookout for some exciting new things and give a big hand to Ashley and Sheina!
